InfoJustice's Call to Arms Coincides with the American
Medical Association: Replies to May 2, 1998 Scooping Article by the InfoJustice
Bureau Medical Press' on exposure risks. "Death equation for genes, cause of
ectopic pregnancy, non-healing fractures, inhibition of surgical fusion's and horrific international legacy"
The article which appeared on May 2, 1988
in InfoJustice's "Beat The Press" stated that most of tobacco's life-threatening
health risks were still hidden from the American Consumer. In this article, your examiner
had written: " Ectopic pregnancy was found to be a high risk from
Cigarette smoking warns the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention in the American Journal of Obstetrics and
Gynecology" (March 1998). The article warned that medical
care communities
should inform the public of this additional risk associated with cigarette smoking and
intensify intervention strategies to reduce cigarette smoking among women of reproductive
age (for complete list of new
1988 risks or complications
due to Cigarete Smoking, read @ InfoJustice First, May 1st).
Overseas in Japan, the Chiba Cancer Center Research Institute reported in the March
1988 Journal of Oncology that pro-allele carriers were found to be significantly
more frequent in those patients who smoked and particularly in those who began smoking at
a younger age. Thus, there can be genetic mutations.
In the January 1988 issue of Schweiz Rundsch Medical Prax of Switzerland, it
was reported that cigarette smoking and its associated diseases and deaths were a
preventable pandemic in the 20th Century.
In the February 1988 issue of Spine, the Emory Spine Center reported that even
surgical spinal fusions are inhibited by nicotine
which is absorbed through the lungs from Cigarette Smoking. The article
concluded that cigarette
smoking and nicotine are inhibitory factors in the healing of fractures and spine fusions
The only common
thread of risk of Cancer patients discharged with acute myocardial infarct was smoking
cigarettes, which also happens to increase risk for atherosclerotic diseases. This was noted in the March 1998 edition of Epidemiology
authored by the Division for Cancer Epidemiology, Danish Cancer Society, Copenhagen,
Denmark.
In the March 1988 issue of Jama, it was reported that high levels of tobacco
and alcohol consumption, depression, poor nutrition, and deterioration of health care
services have lead to an overall decline in the average life expectancy of the Russian
people. Cardiovascular anomalies leading to heart disease and stroke was estimated to be
responsible for 65% of this decline which has been observed in the 1990s.
Finally, passive smoking exposure and risk in the workplace was reported in the
February 1998 issue of Risk by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,
Washington DC.
4000 heart-disease deaths and 400 lung-cancer deaths occur annually among office workers
from passive smoking in the workplace. Currently, the prevalence of unrestricted smoking in the office
workplace is 28%.
The
InfoJustice Journal Press, division of the American Academy for Justice Through Science, asks the questions: "What is it
going to take, to get the truth out to the folks of America relative to Cigarette Smoking
and passive unrestricted Air nicotine from smoking coworkers? How many more years of
death through the suppression of known research will it take? What does it take to
get to the truth anymore in the United States?"

greatest friend of truth is Time, her greatest enemy is Prejudice, and her constant
companion is Humility." Charles C. Colton"
AMA Ethics Institute M.D., replied: "Thank you for your very articulate synopsis of some of the issues
facing the public regarding tobacco and its effects on health. Indeed, as a global
pandemic, tobacco claims 3 million lives a year, a figure that will climb to 10
million annually by 2020. Half of all smokers who do not quit by age 35 will die
prematurely of a tobacco-related illness.
I agree that much more communication about tobacco's toll must be
pursued; the AMA is engaged in that mission through several avenues. What we seem
not to have is the political will to do more than talk about keeping kids from smoking-the
clout of the tobacco industry is a major impediment to adequate funding for research,
implementation of tobacco use prevention and control interventions, and smoking cessation
coverage for people who want to quit.
Your enthusiasm and
knowledge, translated into action in your community and with decision-makers, can make a
difference. AMA funds tobacco control coalitions in 30 states; they exist in all 51
through state health departments."
The InfoJustice Tele-learning Journal adds the American
Medical Association to their list of organizations and people who
have made significant contributions in the fight to bring back consumer protection under
the guidance of the Hippocratic principles of medicine.

romance is dead. The age of chivalry is never past, so long as there is a wrong left
unredressed on earth." Charles Kingsley, Vol., II, Ch 28: "A good conscience is a continual
Christmas." Ben
Franklin, Poor Richards
Almanac.
The tobacco control coalitions, concerned professional health organizations, leaders of
the States and heroic advocates, that have brought to consumer awareness the
life-threatening health risks of tobacco consumption through scientifically proven
forensic evidence are to be applauded for their commitment.
Tobacco is one of many products regulated by The U.S. Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.
The U.S. Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, Drug Enforcement Administration and involved
State Health and Human Resources Specialists reiterate what has already been written about
with respect to tobacco. However, their purview ensures peaceful tranquilly and a
safe environment in which future generations can continue in the tradition of the
patriotic principles written in our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution (with
its first Amendments in tact). (A summary of these risks was discussed in an article
posted on the InfoJustice Journal's Tele-Learning and News Bureau's Beat the Press
announcement of cutting-edge 1988 medical news.)
"Wining is
accomplished when no one loses".
The Academy urges all concerned Americans to Act now and protect others. Don't
let the tobacco industry's health robbers profiteer off of any more men, women, or
children. The only promise that they can make is one of despair, mutating genes, ectopic
pregnancy, delay in healing, cancer, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular diseases (such as
heart disease and stroke), birth defects, kidney disease, lung disease, decreased
conditioning and overall decreased life expectancy..".
