New Sugar Supplement FDA Safe
It was no joke on April 1st when the food and drug administration annonced to the
nation that Sucralose, 600 times sweeter than sugar, was approved for a wide variety of
food products.
Its true, Sucralose, manufactured by McNeil Speciality Products, a subsidiary of
Johnson & Johnson, is approved for a variety of applications. Examples are
non-alcoholic beverages, chewing gum, baked goods, baking mixes, coffee and tea products,
confections and frostings, fats and oils, jams and jellies, milk products, frozen dairy
desserts and mixes, processed fruits, fruit and fruit juices, sugar substitutes, sweet
sauces, toping, syrups and can even be used as a "table-top sweetener" directly
to foods by the consumer.
USFDA reviewed more than 110 studies in humans and animals. No toxic,
carcinogenic, reproductive or neurological effects were found.
The non-nutritive, high-intensity sweetener is made from a process that begins with
sucrose becoming a free-flowing, water soluble, white crystalline powder.
Again, FDA did not do the research themselves as the law prior to 1993 but relied on
the works of others prior to the authorization. All food
additives must be approved by FDA as safe before they are marketed in
the United States. Lets hope the non-big brother researchers were correct.
