WEEKEND WORDS FOR AUGUST 8 2015...A wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government, and this is necessary to close the circle of our felicity...Government is not reason; it is not eloquence. It is force. And force, like fire, is a dangerous servant and a fearful master...The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government.  Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Patrick Henry....Of all the anti-social vested interests the worst is the vested interest in ill-health...To lengthen thy Life, lessen thy meals...The sovereign invigorator of the body is exercise, and of all the exercises walking is the best...Be careful about reading health books.  You may die of a misprint. - Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Mark Twain...I believe in angels, the kind Heaven sends. I am surrounded by angels, but I call them my best friends....I believe that friends are quiet angels who sit on our shoulders and lift our wings when we forget how to fly....You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence...We all take different paths in life, but no matter where we go, we take a little of each other everywhere....Friends are the most important part of your life. Treasure the tears, treasure the laughter, but most importantly, treasure the memories.  - Psalms 16: 11, Tim McGraw, Dave Brenner ....If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader....Originality is... a by-product of sincerity...and...Leadership is based on inspiration, not domination; on cooperation, not intimidation. - John Quincy Adams, Marianne Moore and William Arthur Ward...Socialism is workable only in heaven where it isn't needed, and in hell where they've got it... The assumption that spending more of the taxpayer's money will make things better has survived all kinds of evidence that it has made things worse. The black family- which survived slavery, discrimination, poverty, wars and depressions- began to come apart as the federal government moved in with its well-financed programs to help...Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word, equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude...A liberal is a person whose interests aren't at stake at the moment ...Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. - Cecil Palmer, Thomas Sowell, Alexis de Tocquevill, Willis Player and Winston Churchill....There is a basic lesson on financial crises that Democrat governments tend to wait too long, underestimate the risks, want to do too little. And it ultimately gets away from them, and they end up spending more money, causing much more damage to the economy...The level of Democrat taxation is driven by spending. Less spending leads to lower taxes...A large family and Democrats have a lot in common: teenagers and Democrats are always happy spending other people's money...Anytime a large, emergency spending bill makes its way through Congress, the potential for mischief is great...Deficits mean future tax increases, pure and simple. Deficit spending should be viewed as a tax on future generations, and politicians who create deficits should be exposed as tax hikers...From where I am sitting much of the country now sees the President the way I have seen him since the campaign. He is an ambitious leftist, with little understanding of economics, and with far-reaching goals to create significant and irreversible growth of government and redistribution of wealth through dramatic changes in tax, regulatory, and spending policies... Government does not have a revenue problem; government has a spending problem. Government does not have a revenue problem; government has a priority problem. It is time that we begin to fine tune our focus and decide what the priority of government ought to be. - Timothy Geithner, Gregory D. Hess, Anne Northup, Chris Chocola, Ron Paul, Charles W. Calomiris, Marsha BlackburnWEEKEND WORDS FOR APRIL 11 2015...White House Computer Hacked by Russia & Hillary Clinton put Government Secrets on home server....Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth...A betrayer leader is the outcome of a fool nation....You may plainly perceive the betrayer through his mask; he is well-known everywhere in his true colors; his rolling eyes and his honeyed tones impose only on those who do not know him....For the betrayer appears not a betrayer; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men....A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government. - ABC News, M.F. Moonzajer, Moliere, John F. Kennedy, Marcus Tullius Cicero, George Washington....Many poets in Iran have learned to speak almost a secret language, where political issues are talked about in allegorical ways....There are two kinds of light -- the glow that illuminates, and the glare -- that obscures....Peace will not be built, however, by people with bitterness in their hearts....There are people, particularly in the United States with which I am most familiar, who would say how ironic that Tehran would be the sponsor of an anti-terrorism conference, because there are people who say that Iran is a state sponsor of terrorism....We cannot win this war on terror if people are undercutting us. And one way to undercut us is to empower Iran.- Reza Aslan , James Thurber, Eleanor Roosevelt, Cynthia McKinney, Lindsey Grahamn....Four rules of leadership in a free legislative body: First, no matter how hard-fought the issue, never get personal. Don't say or do anything that may come back to haunt you on another issue, another day.-Second, do your homework. You can't lead without knowing what you're talking about-Third, the American legislative process is one of give and take. Use your power as a leader to persuade, not intimidate.-Fourth, be considerate of the needs of your colleagues, even if they're at the bottom of the totem pole....People ask the difference between a leader and a boss. The leader works in the open, and the boss in covert...If the blind lead the blind, both shall fall in the ditch....if your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader. - President George Bush, Theodore Roosevelt, Jesus Christ, John Quincy Adams....Ultimately, America's answer to the intolerant man is diversity, the very diversity which our heritage of religious freedom has inspired...Those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything, and Regard your neighbor’s gain as your gain, and your neighbor’s loss as your own loss...One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life; That word is love...Who finds a faithful friend, finds a treasure. Sophocles and Abraham.... An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind....Intellectual growth should commence at birth and cease only at death...One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life; That word is love...Who finds a faithful friend, finds a treasure...Always do right as this will gratify some people and astonish the rest. - Mahatma Gandhi, Ben Franklin, Albert Einstein, Sophocles, Abraham, BC Forbes, Mark Twain....Remember today, for it is the beginning of always. Today marks the start of a brave new future filled with all your dreams can hold....If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader....The end result of wisdom is good deeds...With every deed you are sowing a seed, though the harvest you may not see....Kindheartedness, generosity, the adherence to a code of civilized laws, ever improving scientific medicine, equality, the never-ending pursuit of societal progress and man's academic advancement are his greatest achievements...They that give up essential liberty to obtain temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety....Seek not good from without: seek it within ourselves, or you will never find it. - John Quincy Adams 6th US President, The Talmud, Ella Wheeler  Wilcox, Benjamin Franklin, Epictetus....There was never a good war or a bad peace…The structure of world peace cannot be the work of one man or one party or one nation.  It must be a peace which rests on the cooperative effort of the whole world…Happy were men if they but understood, there is no safety but in doing good...Anyone who isn't confused really doesn't understand the situation. - Ben Franklin, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Dennis Wholey and Edward R. Murrow....The senses deceive from time to time, and it is prudent never to trust wholly those who have deceived us even once...Trust, but verify....When a man assumes a public trust he should consider himself a public property....Let every eye negotiate for itself and trust no agent....There is danger from all men. The only maxim of a free government ought to be to trust no man living with power to endanger the public liberty...Trust yourself.  Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all your life.  Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny, inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement. - Rene Descartes, Ronald Reagan, Thomas Jefferson, William Shakespear, John Adams, Golda Meir... Four rules of leadership in a free legislative body: First, no matter how hard-fought the issue, never get personal. You can't lead without knowing what you're talking about-Third, the American legislative process is one of give and take. A man might forget where he parks or where he lives, but he never forgets oral sex, no matter how bad it is.”....I'm not upset that you lied to me, I'm upset that from now on I can't believe you...It is better to offer no excuse than a bad one. ....If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything. - George Carlin, Barbara Bush, Friedrich Nietzsche, George Washington, Mark Twain.... I have long argued that paying down the national debt is beneficial for the economy, it keeps interest rates lower than they otherwise would be and frees savings to finance increases in the capital stock, thereby boosting productivity and real incomes....We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt....Blessed are the young for they shall inherit the national debt. - Alan Greenspan, speech, Apr.27,2001, Thomas Jefferson, letter to Samuel Kerchevel, Jul, 12, 1816, Herbert Hoover, as quoted in Francis X. Caranaugh's The Truth About the National Debt....A government that is big enough to give you all you want is big enough to take it all away....The government, which was designed for the people, has got into the hands of the bosses and their employers, the special interests.  An invisible empire has been set up above the forms of democracy....Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys....It might be more worthwhile if we stopped wringing our hands and started ringing our congressmen....If people behaved like governments, you'd call the cops. - Barry Goldwater, Woodrow Wilson, P.J. O'Rourke, Author Unknown, Kelvin Throop...There is one sure way of telling when politicians aren't telling the truth - their lips move....What this country needs is more unemployed politicians....Politicians are people who, when they see light at the end of the tunnel, go out and buy some more tunnel....The magician and the politician have much in common; they both have to draw our attention away from what they are really doing....Washington is a place where politicians don't know which way is up and taxes don't know which way is down....My definition of a redundancy is an air-bag in a politician's car. - Felicity Kendall, Edward Langley, John Quinton, Ben Okri, Robert Oben, Larry Hagman....Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession.  I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first...Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong....We'd all like to vote for the best man, but he's never a candidate....Under democracy one party always devotes its chief energies to trying to prove that the other party is unfit to rule - and both commonly succeed, and are right....Politicians are the same all over.  They promise to build a bridge even where there is no river....Politics is the art of looking for trouble, find it whether it exists or not, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedy....Politicians say they're beefing up our economy. Most don't know beef from pork....All of us who are concerned for peace and triumph of reason and justice must be keenly aware how small an influence reason and honest good will exert upon events in the political field....If God wanted us to vote, he would have given us candidates. The Pamphlet had a sudden and surprising Effect. I was call’d upon for the Instrument of Association. And having settled the Draft of it with a few Friends, I appointed a Meeting of the Citizens in the large Building before-mentioned...The House was pretty full. I had prepared a Number of printed Copies, and provided Pens and Ink dispers’d all over the Room. I harangu’d them a little on the Subject, read the Paper and explain’d it, and then distributed the Copies which were eagerly signed, not the least Objection being made - Benjamin Franklin and I am a firm believer in the people. All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered-the point is to discover them....Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters....If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything....The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end there it is....If you shut up the truth and bury it under the ground, it will but grow, and gather to itself such explosive power that the day it bursts through it will blow up everything in its way. - Mahatma Gandhi, Galileo Galilei, Albert Einstein, Mark Twain, Winston Churchill, Emile Zola...Lying rides upon debt's back....The trust of the innocent is the liar's most useful tool...He who permits himself to tell a lie once, finds it much easier to do it a second and a third time till at length it becomes habitual...Through clever and constant application of propaganda, people can be made to see paradise as hell, and also the other way round, to consider the most wretched sort of life as paradise = National Debt almost 17 Trillion Dollars folks, 17 million more folks on foods stamps because they were the employed who became unemployed and then dropped off the map, gasoline has doubled, median household income has dropped $4,500, greater then 50% of students graduating college find zero in the way of jobs or employment, with 15% of Americans in poverty, price of corn doubled, ground beef up 75% with 23 million folks unable to find work who have not dropped off the radar yet proves - Benjamin Franklin -Stephen King, Thomas Jefferson, Adolf Hitler  - A wise man will listen and will add to his wisdom and the intelligent will gain leadership -Aramaic Bible....A society that will trade a little liberty for a little order will lose both, and deserve neither....I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the. labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them....”Most truths are so naked that people feel sorry for them and cover them up at least a little bit...To be persuasive we must be believable; to be believable we must be credible; credible we must be truthful. - President Thomas Jefferson "Brilliance Extraordinaire"-Author of our Declaration of Independence and father of the US copyright and patent office, and Edward R.
